1) Positional
2) Movement
3) Blocking
4) Striking
5) Grappling
6) Self Defense
7) Traditional
8) PMP: Physical/Mental/Physiological
Positional: The ability to be balanced with a strong base. To be ‘in-base’ in every aspect of a fight or exercise.
Movement: The ability to evade and or control a situation through movement.
Blocking: The ability to parry and protect your body from strikes from an attacker.
Striking: The ability to use your ‘weapons’ on an attacker also known as “The Art of Striking”.
Grappling: The ability to protect and defend yourself from the ground.
Self Defense: The ability to defend yourself in life threatening situations.
Traditional: The ability to preserve the essense of Martial Arts with Tradtional kata and exercise.
PMP: Physical/Mental/Physiological – The ability to study Hybrid-Te Jitsu technique and the application of the technique with the emphasis on becoming a healthy Hybrid Te Jitsu mixed martial artist.
Hybrid Te-Jitsu MMA is a system comprised of years of experience from several disciplines mixed together (hence Hybrid) to provide a complete and streamlined system of Martial Arts. “Te-Jitsu” includes, but is not limited to: Okinawa-Te, Kempo, TaeKwonDo, Shotokan, Armas De Mano, Hapkido, Arnis & Stick Fighting, Karate, Jujitsu, Boxing techniques, Muay Thai, and more! It’s a Hybrid of system and styles to include ‘what works’ as well as to continue the tradtion of Martial Arts.
The Kids Karate Program calls their karate kids “Te-Jitsu Dragons” and strives to maintain the tradtional martial arts while impressing upon the Te-Jitsu Dragon the importance of respect, discipline, personal safety, while having a fun, flowing, exciting and age appropriate martial arts class!
We love what we do as martial artists, we love our students, and we strive to help our students improve.
“I want every child in our Kids Karate Program to be the best that they can be and be better than they think they can be. Not just in karate, but in everything they do in life.” Sensei Glenn Magas
Sensei Glenn Magas began his Martial Arts life at a very young age, starting off in Tae Kwon Do (where he learned his kicks), and then to Shotokan Karate (where he fell in love with kata and forms), and in highschool with Ed Parker’s American Kempo (where he learned hand techniques), before falling in love with Gordon Doversola’s creation and masterpiece, the Okinawa-Te System of karate where he learned to be a fighter.
Glenn trained under Shihan Doversola for 15 years winning many point and full contact tournaments (earning a brown belt) before achieving a black belt in Mike Pecina’s Okinawa-Te Budokan system under Sensei Pecina (a Doversola blackbelt). In attendence were Sensei Larry De Lano (Doversola’s very first black belt), and Master James Ibrao (Creator of The 5 Forms to Black Belt and Ed Parker’s very first Black Belt). Glenn expanded his education in the Martial Arts to include Shoot Fighting, Boxing, Muay Thai, Jujutsu, Arnis, Stick Fighting and still continues to learn more whenever he can.
Sensei Glenn currently holds a black belt in both Okinawa-Te & Armas de Mano (under Master Nestor Ylagin) and is General Manager of Old Town Fight Club and Head Instructor for Hybrid Te-Jitsu MMA.
The techniques, exercises, and games in the Kids Karate Program are meant to inspire children to improve their overall concentration and focus, to improve their coordination, balance and skill, become quicker, kick with flexibility, punch faster and harder, and instill self confidence.
Special membership is also offered for “Karate Families” because OTFC’s karate program is catered to the family! A family that works out together is a happier, healthier family!
Please come on by or give Old Town Fight Club a call and try a karate class for free! Ask for Sensei Glenn (626) 239-1000!
