Muay Thai in MMA & UFC Fights

Posted on 31 October 2010

From inside MMA gyms across America it would seem people know what Muay Thai is. But those fans, or those interested in learning Mixed Martial Arts, some may not realize that Muay Thai has made a huge impact on how a Mixed Martial Artist fights.

Unfortunately, the UFC doesn’t show the ‘tale of the tape’ where martial arts disciplines are displayed anymore. One reason is that many of these fighters train in EVERYTHING.

They aren’t just wrestlers, BJJ, or specific martial arts practitioners anymore. They are truely Mixed Martial Artists and part of their success in striking is Muay Thai techniques.

From the Muay Thai clinch to deadly leg kicks, put Muay Thai, Boxing, Grappling and traditional karate into your training and you will be a well rounded Mixed Martial Artist!

In this short video, Ray Sefo, a New Zealander and Mixed Martial Artist and 5 time Muay Time World Champion talks about how important Muay Thai is to a Mixed Martial Artist.

If you are interested in being a complete Mixed Martial Artist, check out the Muay Thai and BJJ program at Old Town Fight Club in Monrovia.
