October was a busy month here at Old Town Fight Club in Monrovia. We kicked off our very first Big Bear Training Camp and it was a HUGE success. All we keep hearing since the Big Bear Training Camp is when we will have the next one! We don't have an exact date yet for the next one but I will say this... We will have a few special surprises for the trainees who make it out with us to Big Bear.

In a crowded Muay Thai gym in Van Nuys, Alek (Loco), Student of Sommai Ekyotin, fought in the ring for the first time in 6 years. The 3 round bout was filled with action and Loco Sitsommai got the best of his opponent. Loco's pace was well managed and he fought a technical fight. By the end of the 2nd round, Loco turned it up a notch and it kept that momentum throughout the rest of the fight.

The ability to deliver a powerful punch comes conversely with being able to take a powerful punch. Boxers, Full Contact Karate, and/or Mixed Martial Artists take punches to the abdomen which, within a fight and throughout a fighter’s career, will result in wear and tear with potential damage to the liver and kidneys. Developing one’s core should be a primary goal in order to improve punching power as well as taking the punch itself.

In an interview with Steve Larkin he said that James Calhoun was really strong. But, feeling under the weather, maybe he didn’t have enough strength to control the match like he liked. He did feel that he was controling the match for the most part, defending the take down, but commented on how Calhoun ‘just would not let go of my right arm’.
